FA cup or UEFA cup ?
If someone were to offer you one win this season ,in either , what would it be ? l think for the older ones on here, like me it’s got to be the FA cup , l would imagine the young ones would prefer the UEFA but that day at Wembley in 1980 from the early morning meet at Mile End till falling out the Denmark Arms late ,is still one of the best days in my life !

Re: FA cup or UEFA cup ?
Surely the EL? qualification for the CL, European prestige.

Would make us very attractive.

Re: FA cup or UEFA cup ?
The Europa as it will mean European Kudos and entry into the Champion’s League.

As much as I’d love another FA Cup win, it no longer has the same prestige that it once had.

Re: FA cup or UEFA cup ?
Winning the UEFA cup has bigger rewards financially, also playing more games with better opposition would make winning that over the FA Cup a bit more special.

Re: FA cup or UEFA cup ?
The difference between winning something PROPER*, like these two competitions, and not winning someting PROPER is so enormous that the difference BETWEEN them pales into insignificance.

The Europa League, if I HAVE to choose, but the difference is marginal.

*A third of the Intertoto wasn't PROPER, even if we did share it with a GIANT like Juventus

Much as i loved 1980 and the memories it still conjures up, a European final in Seville would be MASSIVE. A week away with the boys and a brand new memory would be fantastic. Was too young for 76 and that adventure.

I also feel it would help grow the club further and be a stepping stone to retain and attract new talent.

The hotel in Seville is reserved.

Llike eastham 75, those cup wins in 75 and 80 were special but the UEFA cup these days would be better without a doubt.

We compete in the FA Cup every season.....this is the first time we've competed properly in the Europa League isn't it? So for this reason the Europa League.......

FA cup final wins in 75 and 80 are my two happiest days out with West Ham, the 76 Final was a great couple of days for a 17 year old.
Either would be great but Europa because of the obvious additional benefits and Kudos we would get

Should the FA Cup be seeded?

At least if it is, the media driven advertisers and sponsors will have a better return on their investment come cup final day.

I was born week after we won the FA cup in 1980 and still have not come to terms with that day 2006. I find it hard to even comprehend us winning anything - so choosing between two just seems impossible. Either would be magic. Europa has to be more likely though.

Going to a cup final is memorable! A great day out, Europa cup final in Seville would be also be most memorable if we could do it!

Re: FA cup or UEFA cup ?
End of the day, the FA Cup means about as much as the League Cup these days.

Fucking Wigan won it the other year. Millwall even made it to the semis that year.

Re: FA cup or UEFA cup ?
cup of tea - that’s all very well but CL qualification is our most likely means of being able to keep hold of our best players and attract others of a similar standard… it is a means to an end. And anyway surely you want to see West Ham play against the best teams in Europe?

Re: FA cup or UEFA cup ?
Probably in the minority but couldn't give a fuck about Champions League because it should only be for champions and I DONT LIKE IT Therefore FA Cup for me and I'd even take league cup over CL qualification

The Europa League. As previously mentioned probably the easier of the 2 to win. I would back us against anyone over 2 legs. Dare we dream of some magical European nights under the lights in Stratford?

The benefits of the Europa are greater, but the punch of the FA Cup is more attractive.

Re: FA cup or UEFA cup ?
I’m not old enough to remember the last trophy we won in 1980 so to win the FA Cup would be an amazing feeling.

That being said even without the bonus of qualification to the Champions League winning the Europa League would be far more impactful across the world.

Europa for me. CL Qualifier and a few trips away too.

Kidderminster away or Barca away?
